Attorney megan sheehan

Attorney Megan E. Sheehan graduated from Macalester College in 2005 and Vermont Law School in 2013. While at Vermont Law School, Megan participated in the South Royalton Legal Clinic, was an active member of the National Lawyers Guild VT Chapter, and volunteered on a statewide workers' rights hotline. Prior to joining Sheehan & Associates, Megan worked with the Vermont Workers' Center as the Director of Operations.  She lives in the East Bay of Rhode Island with her husband, son, two dogs, and cat. 

Megan’s focus is primarily on small business legal services and estate planning.

Megan is licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, primarily in our Barrington office.

 

ATTORNEY MAURA SHEEHAN

Attorney Maura L. Sheehan graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1985. Before entering Northeastern University School of Law in 1989, Attorney Sheehan worked as an analyst for the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen. During law school, Attorney Sheehan held Northeastern Co-op positions with Judge Patti Saris, Thornton & Early, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and Conservation Law Foundation. Attorney Sheehan also completed coursework at the Tufts University Graduate School of Civil Engineering, with a focus on environmental law, epidemiology, and toxic torts.

Upon graduating from law school in 1993, Maura spent several years as an associate attorney at Thornton & Early and Stephen J. Kiely and Associates of Boston, where she represented over 100 women in the Silicone Breast Implant Multi-District Litigation. 

In 1996 Maura established the Law Office of Maura L. Sheehan in Boston and Lexington, Massachusetts, where she represents clients in real estate transactions, estate planning, probate, small business matter, and sports law. Since 2000, Attorney Sheehan’s sports law practice has included representation of clients in various sports-related matters including, sponsorship contracts, regional and national television broadcast license agreements, merchandising agreements, individual athlete and on-air talent contracts, litigation and public relations management, and most notably, the 2010, 2012, and 2014 Frozen Fenway contracts and associated television contracts for Hockey East. Attorney Sheehan’s sports law practice has grown significantly over the past 15 years. Clients currently include Hockey East, Women’s Hockey East, Atlantic Hockey, College Hockey, Inc., and the College Hockey Coaches Association. In addition, attorney Sheehan is currently general counsel to Massachusetts Hockey.

Attorney Sheehan’s pro bono and civic work includes representation of a victim under the 9/11 Victim Compensation Program, service as a Veteran’s Benefit advocate, membership on the Lexington Zoning Board of Appeals, a Lexington Minutemen Patriot’s Day reenactor, and a coach for Massachusetts and Rhode Island Middle School Mock Trial Teams. In addition, attorney Maura Sheehan has served on panels for the Women’s Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association and lectured on Sports Law. 

Creator of the Suburban Lunch program held weekly since 2003, she provides members an opportunity to regularly participate in convenient and informal legal education.

attorney christine d’orsi fitta

Christine D'Orsi Fitta has been practicing law for over twenty years in the State of Rhode Island. Chris is licensed to practice law in Rhode Island State Courts, Massachusetts State Courts and Rhode Island Federal Court. Chris received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating in legal abilities and ethical standards. Her main areas of focus are civil litigation, estate planning, and probate.

Chris is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Workers' Compensation Bench Bar Committee and Defense Counsel of Rhode Island. She served as a member of the board of directors of The East Bay Center and Girl Scouts of Southern New England.

Chris lives in Barrington, Rhode Island with her husband, Jay and their daughter, Olivia.

Attorney blake johnson

Blake Johnson is a Rhode Island native, born and raised in Providence. She was a part of the 3+3 program at Roger Williams University with an undergraduate degree in Legal Studies and Philosophy, graduating cum laude in 2019. She then graduated from Roger Williams School of Law in 2021. While in law school, Blake focused on business and transactional classes and was a part of the Business Start-up Clinic. She was also a student ambassador and Vice President of the Alliance. She is a member of the Rhode Island Women Bar Association on the Events Planning Committee, a Co-Founder of the Cannabis Policy Coalition and  a Council member for RISCA. She is licensed to practice in New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Her main area of focus is small business formations and advising, and aims to build out her expertise in arts and entertainment legal services as well.

Blake is the founder and co-owner of Black Dragonfly Events LLC, a full service event planning company that specializes in fundraisers and social events. She has raised over $3000 and other items for various charities in Rhode Island. 

She enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with her turtle and family. In her spare time, she is an amateur photographer and cos-player.

Julia soares, director of operations

Julia Soares was born and raised in Barrington. She attended Gettysburg College, playing on the Division III field hockey team and majoring in Political Science with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.

She began her career with Sheehan & Associates Law in as a paralegal, and has since transitioned into the administrative role of Director of Operations where she oversees all of the administrative staff. She is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of firm wide processes, ensuring seamless execution of day to day functions. Julia has been with the firm for almost five years.

She works remotely from Los Angeles where she spends her free time coaching field hockey at a local high school as well as going to the beach, hiking, traveling, and also volunteering.
